Rsync
My boss suggested using rsync for large amounts of data transfer since it was capable of picking up where it left off on the possibility that the transfer doesn’t complete. Best idea ever; my transfer stopped midway through. Now I just have to remount my NAS since its IP changed due to installing the new modem.

jakesmumbles  One of those “a-ha” moments, eh? Less “a-ha” and more “kaboom!” I’ve been converting an old Clipper based application to PHP and it’s been a real pain in the ass. Today I finally — least I think I did, I still have to test it — completed all of the main functions. I have the pieces to the puzzle, now to put it all together. :)

So about that transfer...
Well, like I stated in the previous post, I could have simply mounted the hard drives using GUI on my server and then initiate a transfer. Well I pretty much just figured out how to mount my shared folders and in doing so, allowing me all of the Linux copy commands. I’m thinking of using either cp -v or rsync for the two remaining shared folders.

How's my transfer doing?
Trying to back up files from my NAS(iOmega) to my Linux box(server/NAS) and I ran into a bit of a problem. I didn’t want to use windows as an proxy between the two Linux boxes and I couldn’t remote into the iOmega. I created a copy command via my iOmega admin web panel and started it. Of course, it doesn’t actually show progress, only that it’s busy. As I wanted to make...

8AM and my ceiling is leaking
Can’t reach apartment manager and upstairs neighbor isn’t answering her phone or door. Paul said he’ll be able to save the day once he gets back, but I don’t know what he can do.  I hear the tap running upstairs. :(

BF3 Beta
My thoughts on it up to date: Still need to do some tweaking with the server browser. It rarely shows pings and filters half work because of what appears to be caching. It’s an interesting approach making the server browser an actual browser page but I can see some drawbacks — although I think their browser extensions was built to overcome those. I wonder how much HTML5 there is in...
