Friday night wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be. It basically ended up with Paul smoking while we talked a bit then watching Heartbreak Ridge. No drinking.
Saturday night was an entirely different story. Paul left to see Kelly in Findley and Ramy was sick with a cold. That meant I was alone with nothing to do. I took the time to clean up, put things away and grab a couple things from the store. At midnight, I decided I’d try something completely new that I’ve been wanting to do since I got here.
Nemeth’s Lounge is the only real bar in Painesville. Every other place is attached to a restaurant of sorts. I walked into a lively place, filled with peoples of all ages. It was small but had around 30-40 peoples at the time of my arrival. There was classic rock in the air along with the sound of several arcade games. Everything was well lit and seemed clean.
I could go into great detail but I’m not feeling it all that much at this point.
First drink I took was a Tom Collins. It wasn’t the best I’ve had but it wasn’t the worst either - that honor goes to Jalapeño Loco for serving me a watered down Manhattan. A couple minutes passed and I spotted an opportunity to engage in conversation with someone; everyone else seemed to be in a group.
I sat down and explained I was new to the area, despite having lived in the region for six months already. I quickly got aquainted with her and an old friend of hers. The three of us talked for a while and became friends. They went out for a smoke and I decided to talk with a couple others.
Second drink: Gin and orange juice. It was surprisingly smooth.
I got up after finishing my drink, talking lightly with the bartender and asking if he had darts. I went to the group near the golf arcade game. I asked if they wanted to play darts. The response wasn’t all that enthusiastic, but one of the ladies said we could take a shot.
Third drink: Lemon Drop. Oh that was good! Sweet goodness.
She ordered up three shots. One for her, another girl that was sitting beside her and myself. Tasty goodness.
The night quickly went by as I talked with several others and meet a couple new people. A bit more alcohol followed.
- An Austrian beer? It was quite good.
- A straight shot of Yukon Jack. It had been a while since I had some.
- Another Lemon Drop.
- And a Sprite since I hit my $40 limit.
Nicole, Joe and myself went outside to talk whilst they had another cigarette. Two o’clock came by and I was invited to the after party. Oh how fun it is to live a block from things. We drove to Jordan’s house and all five of us - Nicole, Joe, Jordan, Shawn and myself - enjoyed some more talk and a lot of music.
A couple hours and beers went by and we all decided to call it a night. I walked the block to my place and crashed without drinking any of the Poweraid I had bought for Friday night.
Today was spent mainly fighting the hang over and headache but all in all, oh so worth it.
